Position: Junior Engineer (JE) – Civil / Mechanical / Electrical

This opportunity is for engineering diploma/degree holders to join as a Junior Engineer and contribute to the planning, execution, inspection, and maintenance of public infrastructure and engineering systems across central government departments. The selection is conducted via SSC Junior Engineer Examination (Tier-I and Tier-II), followed by document verification and merit-based allocation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, estimation, and execution of engineering works as per departmental standards and specifications.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, measurements, and basic design/engineering documentation (as applicable to discipline).
- Support site supervision, quality checks, and compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders for timely progress and issue resolution.
- Maintain records such as measurement books, inspection notes, test reports, and work progress reports.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for assets, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist senior engineers in project monitoring, resource planning, and technical audits.
- Follow government procedures for procurement, documentation, and reporting as applicable to the department.
Requirements
- Education (Discipline-specific):
- JE (Civil): Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institute (department-specific criteria may apply).
- JE (Mechanical): Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute.
- JE (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.
- JE (Electrical & Mechanical) / certain posts: Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; some posts may require 2 years of relevant work experience as per official notification.
- Age Limit: Typically up to 30–32 years (varies by post/department). Age relaxation as per Government/SSC rules.
- Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals, measurement/estimation practices, and basic project/site coordination.
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Good written and verbal communication for reporting and coordination.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting.
