Position: Sub Inspector (SI) – Prohibition

Overview: We are seeking disciplined, service-oriented candidates for the role of Sub Inspector (SI) – Prohibition. This position focuses on enforcement of prohibition-related laws, investigation of offences, field operations, coordination with local stakeholders, and maintaining public order. The role requires strong integrity, physical fitness, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce prohibition and excise-related laws through field inspections, raids, and preventive actions as per applicable procedures.
  • Conduct investigations, collect evidence, prepare case diaries, and support prosecution by ensuring legally compliant documentation.
  • Coordinate with local police units and relevant departments to plan and execute enforcement operations.
  • Perform patrolling, intelligence gathering, and surveillance to deter illegal production, transport, and sale of prohibited substances.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, chain-of-custody requirements, and reporting protocols.
  • Handle public grievances professionally and maintain law and order during field duties.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and submit timely updates to supervisory officers.
  • Participate in training, drills, and operational briefings; maintain readiness for emergency deployments.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate degree in any stream from a recognized university/college.
  • Age: Minimum 20 years. Maximum age typically up to 37 years (male) and 40 years (female), subject to applicable rules and relaxations.
  • Physical Standards (indicative):
    • Male (UR/BC): Height 165 cm; Chest 81–86 cm
    • Male (EBC/SC/ST): Height 160 cm; Chest 79–84 cm
    • Female (All categories): Height 155 cm; Weight 48 kg
  • Physical Efficiency (indicative):
    • Running: Male 1 mile in 6 min 30 sec; Female 1 km in 6 min
    • High Jump: Male 4 ft; Female 3 ft
    • Long Jump: Male 12 ft; Female 9 ft
    • Shot Put (Gola Fek): Male 16 lb to at least 16 ft; Female 12 lb to at least 10 ft
  • Strong knowledge of legal compliance, documentation practices, and investigation fundamentals (training/departmental instruction may apply).
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, travel as required, and operate in challenging field conditions.
