Position: Technical Helper II (Electrical Distribution)

Department/Domain: Power Distribution Operations & Maintenance

Overview: We are seeking detail-oriented and safety-focused Technical Helper II professionals to support field operations across electricity distribution networks. This role supports routine maintenance, fault response, metering support, and basic technical assistance to ensure reliable power supply and safe network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist technical teams in operation and maintenance of distribution systems, including feeders, transformers, LT/HT lines, and related equipment.
  • Support fault detection and first-level troubleshooting under the supervision of senior technicians/engineers.
  • Assist in installation, replacement, and basic checks of meters, service connections, and distribution components.
  • Help perform preventive maintenance activities such as inspection rounds, tightening/cleaning, and reporting abnormal conditions.
  • Follow work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, and safety instructions while working near live equipment.
  • Maintain basic records of work performed, material usage, and site observations as directed.
  • Support emergency restoration activities during outages, storms, or network breakdowns as per duty rosters.
  • Coordinate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Education: Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent (as applicable to the hiring standard for Technical Helper roles).
  • Basic understanding of electrical distribution concepts (lines, transformers, breakers, earthing, safety practices).
  • Ability to work in field conditions, including outdoor sites and physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to work in shifts/on-call during emergencies and restoration activities.
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and following standard operating procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Preferred: Prior experience/apprenticeship in electrical maintenance, distribution utilities, or related technical work.
