Telecom Sub-Inspector / Head Constable / Constable (Telecom)

Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) is seeking qualified and motivated candidates for Telecom roles across multiple ranks, including Sub-Inspector (Telecom), Head Constable (Telecom), and Constable (Telecom). These positions support mission-critical communications by operating, maintaining, and securing telecom systems used in field and operational environments.

About the Company

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) is a central armed police force responsible for border guarding and internal security duties. ITBP’s telecom function plays a vital role in ensuring reliable, secure, and continuous communications for personnel and operations across challenging terrains and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain telecom and communication equipment to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
  • Support installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of communication systems (as per role and training level).
  • Maintain logs, documentation, and basic reporting for equipment status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in ensuring communications readiness during deployments, exercises, and operational requirements.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and security guidelines for communication systems.
  • Participate in selection stages including Written Exam, PET/PST, Interview (where applicable), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

Requirements

Educational Qualification (role-based):

  • Sub-Inspector (Telecom): B.Sc. / B.Tech / BCA from a recognized institution in India.
  • Head Constable (Telecom): Class 12 with PCM / IT or Engineering Diploma from a recognized board/institution in India.
  • Constable (Telecom): Class 10 from a recognized board in India.

Age Limits (as on 14 December 2024):

  • Constable (Telecom): 18–23 years
  • Head Constable (Telecom): 18–25 years
  • Sub-Inspector (Telecom): 20–25 years

Age relaxation is applicable as per ITBP regulations and government norms.

Physical & Medical Standards:

  • Must be able to qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standards Test (PST) as per ITBP criteria.
  • Must be medically fit as per prescribed standards for the respective post.

Preferred Skills (helpful for success in the role):

  • Basic understanding of electronics/telecom concepts (role dependent).
  • Ability to work in disciplined, structured environments and follow procedures.
  • Comfort working in field conditions and under operational constraints.
  • Teamwork, integrity, and strong attention to detail.
