Position: Telecom Technical Assistant (TTA)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Telecom Technical Assistant (TTA) to support the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecom networks and associated infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy fieldwork, problem-solving, and working with modern communication technologies across access, transmission, and IP-based networks.
Responsibilities
- Assist in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of telecom equipment (e.g., access network elements, transmission systems, routers/switches, power systems).
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and health checks on network and site infrastructure, including BTS/Node sites, cabinets, and indoor equipment rooms.
- Troubleshoot faults in copper/fiber access lines, broadband connectivity, and enterprise circuits; coordinate restoration activities to meet service targets.
- Support fiber operations including basic OTDR testing support, patching, splice coordination, and documentation of fiber routes and terminations.
- Support IP/network operations: basic configuration checks, port/VLAN verification, and escalation with accurate logs and diagnostics.
- Maintain site power and environmental systems (SMPS, batteries, DG coordination, earthing, and basic HVAC monitoring) and report anomalies.
- Work on ticket-based service requests and outages; ensure timely updates, closure notes, and customer communication where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records: work orders, test results, inventory consumption, spares usage, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures while working at sites, on poles, in manholes/ducts, and near electrical systems.
- Coordinate with vendors/contractors for civil, fiber, and equipment-related tasks; verify work quality and completion.
Requirements
- Diploma/ITI/Associate-level qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical, Computer Networking, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 0–3 years of experience in telecom/network operations, field maintenance, broadband/fiber support, or related technical roles (freshers with strong fundamentals may apply).
- Working knowledge of telecom basics: copper/fiber access, RF/site basics, transmission concepts, and IP networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with test tools (e.g., multimeter, power meter, basic fiber tools; OTDR exposure is a plus).
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Comfortable with field work, shifts/on-call support during outages, and travel within assigned territory.
- Strong documentation and communication skills for ticket updates, reports, and coordination with teams.
- Commitment to safety practices and compliance requirements.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and skill level.
- Training and upskilling opportunities in fiber, IP networking, and telecom operations.
- Field allowances/reimbursements as applicable for travel and on-site work.
- Career growth pathways into Network Operations, Field Engineering, and Specialized Telecom Domains.
- Supportive team environment with structured processes and escalation channels.
