Position: Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO)

We are inviting applications for the role of Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO). The APO supports the prosecution function by assisting in the preparation and conduct of criminal cases, coordinating case documentation, and working closely with investigating agencies and courts to ensure effective legal proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting prosecutions and representing the State in criminal matters under the guidance of senior prosecution officials.
  • Review case files, charge sheets, evidence lists, and witness statements; identify gaps and coordinate for timely completion.
  • Draft and vet legal documents such as applications, replies, written submissions, and case notes as required.
  • Coordinate with police/investigating officers for case preparation, witness availability, and production of records.
  • Support court proceedings by ensuring proper documentation, timely filing, and compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Maintain case-related records, registers, and status updates; contribute to reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, rules, and departmental instructions while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: As per UPPSC notification for Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) (candidates must meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by UPPSC).
  • Knowledge of criminal law and court procedures; ability to interpret and apply legal provisions.
  • Strong drafting and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders (courts, police, departmental teams).
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines in a high-responsibility environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record management.
