- 1.) Preliminary Examination (Objective, 100 marks, 1 hour) - consists of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
- 2.) Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive, 200 marks) - comprises Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and an English Descriptive paper.
- 3.) Interview (100 marks) - qualifying in nature, final merit based on mains + interview.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the much-awaited IBPS PO 2026 recruitment to fill over 4000 vacancies of Probationary Officers in various Public Sector Banks across India. This is a prime opportunity for graduates seeking a career in the banking sector. The selection process comprises three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:Candidates must have a degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Those in the final year of graduation can also apply provisionally but must produce proof of passing the degree before joining.
Age Limit:Minimum 20 years and maximum 30 years as on the date of notification. Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD 10 years, etc.
Application Fee
The application fee is Rs. 850 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates, and Rs. 175 for SC/ST/PwBD categories. Payment can be made online only.
Selection Process
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination- Objective type, 100 marks, 1 hour. Sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability. It is qualifying in nature, and marks are not considered for final merit.
Stage 2: Main Examination- Objective (200 marks) and Descriptive (25 marks). Objective sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation. Descriptive: Letter/Essay writing. Both objective and descriptive are conducted online.
Stage 3: Interview- 100 marks. Candidates shortlisted from mains are called for interview. Final selection is based on aggregate marks of mains and interview (80:20 weightage).
How to Apply
Eligible candidates can apply online from June 15, 2026, to July 5, 2026, on the official IBPS website. They need to register, fill details, upload scanned images, and pay the fee. A correction window will be open from July 10 to July 15, 2026.

Candidates must be a Graduate from a recognized university and age between 20-30 years (with relaxations as per category). Knowledge of local language is required for some states.
There is no limit on attempts for General category but age must be within limits. For SC/ST/OBC, attempts are unlimited subject to age.
Preliminary exam consists of 3 sections: English Language (30 questions, 30 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (35 questions, 35 marks), and Reasoning Ability (35 questions, 35 marks). Total 100 marks, 1 hour duration. No negative marking for unattempted questions; 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
Candidates should have basic computer knowledge as the mains exam includes a section on Reasoning & Computer Aptitude.
The mains exam date is yet to be announced (N/A). It will be notified after the prelims result.
The initial basic pay is Rs. 36,000/- with 4 advance increments. Gross emoluments including allowances range from Rs. 52,000 to Rs. 63,840 per month at initial joining.
