The S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has announced a recruitment notification for the post of Project Assistant-I. This is a temporary position initially for a period of three years, offering a consolidated monthly salary of Rs 20,000.

Overview of the Position

The selected candidate will be engaged in research projects at the Centre. Applicants must hold an M.Sc. degree in Physics or a closely related discipline from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates with previous research experience, as evidenced by publications.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification:M.Sc. in Physics or equivalent.
• Age Limit:Maximum 35 years for General category. Age relaxation for OBC/SC/ST/PwBD as per government rules.
• Experience:At least 2 years of research experience is desirable.

Application Process

Candidates are required to submit a soft copy of the application comprising a cover letter, detailed CV, and list of publications via email tobarnali@bose.res.in. Additionally, a hard copy of the same application must be sent to the Registrar at the Centre’s address: Block JD, Sector III, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700106. The deadline for receipt of both soft and hard copies is 21 days from the date of advertisement, i.e.,26 January 2026.

Selection Procedure

The selection committee will shortlist candidates based on their academic qualifications and research experience. Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview, which may be conducted in person or via video conferencing. Final selection will depend on performance in the interview and overall suitability for the project.

Important Notes

The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website of SNBNCBS for further updates.
